My hobby is watching and collecting movies on VHS and DVD. On 17 June 2003, I found the IMDB site through an indication of a friend. My first review was "Anazapta" and since then, when I finish watching a movie, I write my personal opinion about it.
I am eclectic, but my genre number 1 is horror. I see between 800 and 900 movies per year, including TV series ("Sex and the City", "Angel", "Buffy", "Six Feet Under", "Lost" etc.).
My favorite movie is "Casablanca" and it is hard to point out my favorite director, actor and actress. I usually do not read any review before seeing a movie, in order to be not influenced by the critics.

In Bologna, the aspirant writer Stefano (Gabriele Lavia) receives a used typewriter that his wife Alessandra (Anne Canovas) bought in a pawn shop as a gift for their first wedding anniversary. Stefano accidentally reads a weird text on the ribbon about some K-fields discovered by Paolo Zeder that reanimate the buried dead and he becomes obsessed to investigate the story with tragic consequences.
"Zeder" is a strange and original Italian zombie movie with a story of obsession. Stefano brings his wife Alessandra to his supernatural journey and the end is predictable. The idea of burying dead bodies to reanimate in a special field of the novel "Pet Sematary" (1983) might have been the inspiration for this film. My vote is six.
Title (Brazil): "Zeder"
Gemini Man (2019)
The professional hitman Henry Brogan (Will Smith) is near retirement and is assigned to assassin a bio-terrorist in Belgium in his last job. But soon he learns that he was lured by his governmental agency DIA and the victim was not a terrorist. Further, he finds that he is under surveillance of the rookie agent Danny Zakarweski (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) by his chiefs Janet Lassiter (Linda Emond) and Clay Verris (Clive Owen). When his friends are murdered, Henry concludes that Clay wants to kill him and flees with Danny to Colombia. But soon Henry is hunted down by a top assassin called Junior and when he sees his face, he has a great surprise.
"Gemini Man" is an entertaining action sci-fi directed by Ang Lee. The plot is predictable but enjoyable and the special effects are top-notch. The action scenes are excellent and Will Smith is excellent in a double-role. My vote is seven.
Title (Brazil): "Projeto Gemini ("Gemini Project")
The Book of Horror Stories
In 1968, in Mill Valley, Pennsylvania, the outcast teenager Stella Nicholls (Zoe Colletti) is an aspirant writer that has only two friends, Auggie Hilderbrandt (Gabriel Rush) and Chuck Steinberg (Austin Zajur). On the Halloween night, the trio of friends decide to play a prank on the bully Tommy Milner (Austin Abrams) and flee to a drive-in theater where the stranger Ramón Morales (Michael Garza) hides and protects the teenagers. They decide to spend the night visiting the haunted house of the Bellows family, where Stella finds the book of stories of the notorious Sarah Bellows (Kathleen Pollard). She brings the book home and soon she realizes that Sarah is writing one horror story per day with each one of them and she tries to find a means to stop Sarah.
"Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark" is an entertaining horror film with short stories linked by a lead story with Stella and Ramón. The plot is not gore or scary and disappoints fans of the genre. But if the viewer likes mystery and fantasy films, he or she will certainly enjoy this film. My vote is seven.
Title (Brazil): "Histórias Assustadoras para Contar no Escuro" ("Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark")
Angel Has Fallen (2019)

When Mike awakes in the hospital, he is cuffed to be bed accused of attempting of assassination of Trumbull and treason. Soon he learns that he was framed and now he has to prove his innocence and to protect the life of Trumbull.
"Angel Has Fallen" is a full of action thriller in the third film of Mike Banning's franchise. The plot is engaging but predictable and with a great cast and action scenes. The film never disappoints and fans of the genre will certainly enjoy the adventure of Mike Banning. My vote is seven.
Title (Brazil): "Invasão ao Serviço Secreto" ("Invasion in the Secret Service")
The Undying Monster (1942)
The Hammond Monster
Helga Hammond (Heather Angel) and her brother Oliver Hammond (John Howard) live in an isolated mansion with their staff. There is a legend of a curse in the Hammond family but Helga does not believe it is true. Dr. Jeff Colbert (Bramwell Fletcher), who is the Hammond doctor and friend, becomes the prime suspect of Robert since he does not give any support to the investigation. What is the secret of the Hammond monster?
"The Undying Monster" is an enjoyable but predictable werewolf film. Christy is an annoying character but the film is a pleasant surprise. My vote is seven.
Title (Brazil): "O Segredo do Monstro" ("The Secret of the Monster")
The Boy Who Cried Werewolf (1973)
The Boy and the Werewolf
Robert Bridgestone (Kerwin Mathews) has divorced his wife Sandy Bridgestone (Elaine Devry) and travels with his son Richie Bridgestone (Scott Sealey) to an isolated cabin to spend a couple of days together. While walking during the night, Robert is attacked and bitten by a werewolf. Robert fights and kills him in self-defense and he turns into a man again. Richie claims to the Sheriff (Robert J. Wilke) and to his father that the man was a werewolf but nobody believes in the boy. His psychologist thinks it may be a trauma and Sandy decides to travel back to the cabin with Robert and Richie in the full moon. When a werewolf attacks the locals, the Richie claims that his father is a werewolf.
"The Boy Who Cried Werewolf" is a nice werewolf film, with the story of a boy that knows that his father is a werewolf but nobody believes him. The subplot with the hippies is silly but in general the film is enjoyable. My vote is six.
Title (Brazil): "A Maldição da Lua Cheia" ("The Curse of the Full Moon")
The Werewolf (1956)
More Drama than Horror
In Mountaincrest, a stranger without memory arrives in a bar to have a drink. When he leaves the bar, a local tries to robber him but he turns into an animal and kills the attacker. Deputy Ben Clovey (Harry Lauter) hunts down the animal but is wounded by it. Sheriff Jack Haines (Don Megowan) organizes a party to find the beast. Meanwhile the nurse Amy Standish (Joyce Holden) and her father, the local doctor, receive a man called Duncan Marsh (Steven Ritch) that recalls that he had a car accident and two doctors have treated him. But he flees and Haines wants to hunt him down but Amy and her father wants to convince him to capture Duncan to see how they could treat him. When is wife Mrs. Helen Marsh (Eleanore Tanin) and her son Chris arrive in Mountaincrest, Sheriff Haines is convinced that shall capture the werewolf alive. But the doctors that conducted the experiment arrive in the town expecting to kill him.
"The Werewolf (1956)" is a film with the genre more drama than horror. The sad saga of the family man Duncan Marsh is heart breaking. The plot is interesting and the transformation is excellent for a 1956 movie. The performance of Steven Ritch is also great. My vote is six.
Title (Brazil): "O Lobisomem" ("The Werewolf")
El retorno del Hombre Lobo (1981)
In the Sixteenth Century, in Hungary, Waldemar Daninsky (Paul Naschy), Countess Elisabeth Bathory (Jully Saly) and her worshippers are executed by a court. In the Twentieth Century, the researchers Erika (Silvia Aguilar), Karen (Azucena Hernandez) and Barbara find the location of Bathory´s grave and Erika is possessed and decides to reanimate the evil being.
"El retorno del Hombre Lobo" is a flawed movie with a beautiful cinematography. The plot is a mess but entertains fans of European horror films from the middle of the Twentieth Century. My vote is five.
Title (Brazil): "A Noite do Lobisomem" ("The Night of the Werewolf")
Chi o suu bara (1974)
The Third Vampire Film by Toho Studios

When they arrive at the school, the Principal (Shin Kishida) welcomes him and Shiraki offers his condolences to him. During the night, Shiraki has a dreadful nightmare with the principal´s wife. Soon he befriends three students and learns that a roommate has disappeared and other students are also missing. What is the mystery of the Seimei School for girls?
"Chi o suu bara", a.k.a. "Evil of Dracula", is the third vampire film by Toho Studios. There is no Dracula in the story despite the American title. However it is cult and does not disappoint the fans of a vampire movie. My vote is six.
Title (Brazil): "A Maldição de Drácula" ("The Curse of Dracula")
The Lion King (2019)
In Africa, the lion cub Simba is the pride and joy of his parents King Mufasa and Queen Sarabi. Mufasa prepares Simba to be the next king of the jungle. However, the naive Simba believes in his envious uncle Scar that wants to kill Mufasa and Simba to become the next king. Now Scar becomes the king supported by the evil hyenas while Simba grows in a distant land. Sometime later, Nala meets Simba and tells that the kingdom has become a creepy wasteland. What will Simba do?
"The Lion King" is an unnecessary remake of the 1994 animated film. The songs are boring and the nice images tell a story without soul. In the end, this version is beautiful but does not give any emotion to the viewer. My vote is six.
Title (Brazil): "O Rei Leão" ("The Lion King")
The Walking Dead: Bonds (2019)
The Dangerous Alliance
Carol sneaks out and leaves Hilltop but Daryl sees and asks her where she is going. She tells that she would hunt Negan and reluctantly accepts the company of Daryl. They stop at the border and Daryl finds Carol´s true intention. In Alexandria, Siddiq and Dante are facing a mysterious epidemic with many residents sick. Negan is tested by the Whisperers and surprisingly survives. Eugene makes contact through radio with a mysterious woman.
"Bonds" is another good episode of "The Walking Dead". The consequence of trespassing the border of Carol and Daryl associated to the dangerous alliance of Negan and Alpha indicate a promising sequel. The disease certainly caused by the remains of walkers dropped by the Whisperers into the river is also promising. My vote is seven.
Title (Brazil): "Bonds"
While hunting a boar, Kelly has hearing problem and is attacked by walkers and passes out. Negan is hunted by a Hilltop group and he meets Brandon that worships him. In Hilltop, supplies are being stolen. Ezekiel is coughing and Siddiq discovers a secret. Negan meets two survivors. Amelia and her son Milo, and asks Brandon to return to Alexandria. He gets close to the boy and intends to take them both to Hilltop but something tragic happens. Daryl, Connie and Magna find Kelly and the supplies that are missing. Negan goes to the border to meet the Whisperers.
"What It Always Is" is the fifth episode of this great Tenth Season of The Walking Dead. The most important subplot is the return of the dangerous Negan seeking alliance with Alpha. The storyline of Amelia and Milo is very sad. The fate of Ezekiel is another tragic part of this show. My vote is seven.
Title (Brazil): "What It Always Is"
On the age of five, Akiko Kashiwagi had a weird dream that has traumatized her life. Soon victims without blood and two holes on the neck arrive in the hospital and Dr. Takashi Saeki is attacking them at the lakeshore where Akiko lives and he decides to investigate.
"Noroi no yakata: Chi o suu me", a.k.a. "Lake of Dracula", is another vampire movie produced by Toho studios. The flawed plot is entertaining and is funny to see Akiko and Takashi going to the vampire house during the night without any weapon. The age of the dog Leo is also intriguing. My vote is six.
Title (Brazil): "O Lago de Drácula" ("The Lake of Dracula")
The Vampire Curse
Kazuhiko Sagawa (Atsuo Nakamura) returns from the USA to Tokyo and immediately travels to the countryside in a stormy night to see his fiancée Yûko Nonomura (Yukiko Kobayashi) in an isolated house in the woods. A couple of days later, his sister Keiko Sagawa (Kayo Matsuo) convinces her fiancé Hiroshi Takagi (Akira Nakao ) to seek her brother out at Yûko's house where they disclose the mystery of the Nonomura's family.
"Yûrei yashiki no kyôfu: Chi wo sû ningyô", a.k.a. "The Vampire Doll", is an atmospheric vampire movie produced by Toho studios. It is interesting to see the Japanese view of vampire and how scary the make-up is. The plot is satisfactory and will not disappoint any fan of the genre. My vote is seven.
Title (Brazil): "A Boneca Vampira" ("The Vampire Doll")
The Haunted House
In Illinois, six college friends celebrate the Halloween party in a bar. They decide to visit an isolated haunted house in the middle of the night but soon they realize that the dreadful live shows are for real.
"Haunt" is a violent and overrated slasher movie that may entertain fans of the genre. However the illogical screenplay and characters are poorly developed and unoriginal. There is no explanation for the motives of the brutality of the crazy people from the haunted house. The rushed conclusion is also absurd. My vote is four.
Title (Brazil): Not Available
Funny and Entertaining Version by Guy Ritchie
"Aladdin" is a very funny and highly entertaining version of the Arabian Nights´ tale by Guy Ritchie. First of all, Will Smith steals the film in the role of a Genie - most of his scenes could be included in the best moments of the movie. The beauty of Naomi Scott is impressive and shines. Marwan Kenzari performs the great villain Jafar with good performance. The small-thief Mena Massoud is a great and warm-hearted Aladdin. Last but not the least, the monkey Abu and the evil macaw complete the brilliant cast of this good version indicated as a wonderful family entertainment. My vote is seven.
Title (Brazil): "Aladdin"
Lydia and Negan
The outcast Lydia is badly treated by three Alexandrians. When Negan saves her from an attack, the life changes in Alexandria. Meanwhile Michonne and a group of Alexandrians head to Hilltop to save survivors of a collapsed wall.
"Silence the Whisperers" is an episode where the outcast Lydia and Negan are lead characters. The despicable Negan may have changed but it is hard for the Alexandrians to support him. But Lydia is a key character for this season and only Michonne has understood her importance. It might be terrible be bullied all the time especially in a post-apocalypse world. But the greatest problem is still the human race despite of the walkers. How many people had died in confrontation with the "human beings" along ten seasons? My vote is eight.
Title (Brazil): "Silence the Whisperers"
The aspirant singer Jack Malik (Himesh Patel) is struggling to be a great musician with the support of his agent Ellie Appleton (Lily James) and his closer friends. However he is a failure and needs to work in a supermarket to survive. One day there is a blackout and Jack has an accident while riding his bicycle. When he recovers, Ellie gives a new guitar to him and Jack plays "Yesterday". Soon he realizes that the world does not know "The Beatles" and he plays and sings their songs becoming the best musician in the world with a greedy agent. But can he afford the price he has to pay for the stolen success?
"Yesterday" is a delightful fantasy with the story of a world without "The Beatles", coke, cigarettes, USSR and Harry Potter. It is hard to understand Jack´s final decision, but the romantic story is a fantasy so it is very reasonable the conclusion. The sweet Lily James steals the film. My vote is seven.
Title (Brazil): "Yesterday"
The Planck´s Constant
Hopper, Joyce and Murray head to the Russian base to activate the keys that are opening The Gate, with the support of Steve, Robin, Dustin and Erica by radio. El and her friends are leaving the Starcourt Mall when they realize that Billy has stolen the ignition cable from Nancy´s car and they are forced to seek shelter from the Mind Flayer in the mall.
"Chapter Eight: The Battle of Starcourt" is the second best episode of this season. The conclusion is great and hope to find Hopper safe and sound in Russia. The part when Dustin needs the Planck´s Constant is tense and hilarious. My vote is eight.
Title (Brazil): "Chapter Eight: The Battle of Starcourt"
Larry Kline promotes the 04th July with a Carnival for the residents of Hawkins. During the fireworks, El and his friends are under attack of the Mind Flayer in Hopper´s cabin and El is wounded in her leg. They escape in Nancy's car. They return to the Starcourt Mall and hide in a movie theater that is showing "Back to the Future". Hopper, Joyce, Murray and Alexei are driving to the Carnival to rescue the children. Alexei teaches how to destroy the machine that is opening The Gate.
"Chapter Seven: The Bite" is another great episode of "Stranger Things" with three important segments. One in the Carnival; in the Starcourt Mall; and in the cabin and supermarket. The sad part is the fate of the funny Alexei. My vote is eight.
Title (Brazil): "Chapter Seven: The Bite"
Why Opening the Gate in Hawkins?

"Chapter Six: E Pluribus Unum" discloses why the Russians are trying to open the gate in Hawkins. El gets in trouble with her powers. What will happen next? My vote is eight.
Title (Brazil): "Chapter Six: E Pluribus Unum"
The elevator where Steve, Robin, Dustin and Erica are trapped goes uninterruptedly down until it stops. When Russian agents arrive, they succeed to leave the shaft but they cannot leave the underground base. Hopper and Joyce seek a machine at the real states recently bought by Kline until they find the location. However the Russian agent arrives but they succeed to flee with a Russian scientist. However their car breaks and they are forced to hijack another car to visit a Hopper's friend that speaks Russian. The group of teenagers head to the hospital to visit Mrs. Driscoll and they have a dreadful surprise.
"Chapter Five: The Flayed" is a great sequel of "Stranger Things" basically divided in three segments: Steve, robin, Dustin and Erica at the Russian base; the journey of Hopper and Joyce with the Russian scientist; and the visit of the teenagers to Mrs. Driscoll. All of them exciting, funny and suspenseful adventures. My vote is eight.
Title (Brazil): "Chapter Five: The Flayed"
The Best Episode So Far
El is talking to Max and tells that she is worried with Billy and Heather. Mrs. Driscoll is taken by the police to a hospital. The Mind Flayer attacks Tom and Janet in the empty factory and turns them into the Flayed. Hopper recovers at Joyce´s house and they head to meet Kline to know the identity of the man that attacked him. Will senses The Mind Flayer and the group of teenagers reunites to discuss the problem without Dustin that is with Steve and Robin spying the Russians. They plot a plan to lock Billy inside the sauna to force the Mind Flayer to leave him. Nancy and Jonathan are fired from The Hawkins Post by Tom Holloway. Robin buys blueprints of the Starcourt Mall to find an access to the restricted rooms. Erica makes a deal with Robin, Steve and Dustin to open the door of the restricted room.
"Chapter Four: The Sauna Test" is so far the best episode of the Third season of "Stranger Things". The episode is full of tension and action and has interesting subplots. My vote is nine.
Title (Brazil): "Chapter Four: The Sauna Test"
The Walking Dead: Ghosts (2019)
Alexandria is under hourly attack of hordes of walkers for almost two days and the dwellers are exhausted. Lydia discloses that this type of strategy is unusual to her mother that would rather send a massive attack. Gamma comes to Alexandria and tells that they need to meet Alpha unarmed at the North border. Daryl, Michonne and Carol go to the encounter with Alpha that tells that she knows they crossed the border three times but she will not punish them. Meanwhile the resented Aaron is assigned to fight the walkers with Negan in the South. Carol is keeping awake using medication and has hallucinations with the Whisperers.
"Ghosts" is a great and promising episode of "The Walking Dead" with many walkers and a story like in the "old times". Fans of this series will certainly enjoy with "The Walking Dead" back on tracks. The deranged Alpha and the Whisperers will certainly be another powerful enemy of the survivors. My vote is eight.
Title (Brazil): "Ghosts"
How Alpha Met Beta
"The Walking Dead - We Are the End of the World" shows in flashback how Alpha met Beta. The deranged character and her daughter seek for shelter in an old building where their first encounter is. The episode is only reasonable and the viewer has an idea how disturbed they are. My vote is seven.
