Trivia

Production was halted for a week during Hurricane Sandy's assault on New York in late 2012. Martin Scorsese was even denied access to his film facility on Manhattan's 57th Street due to the potential hazards posed by a toppled crane near his building. See more »

Goofs

When Donnie urinates on the subpoena in the trash can, there is a clear line in which the urine stream simply disappears slightly above the can. This reveals that it was an effect added in editing. See more »

Quotes

Jordan Belfort: Donnie and I were going out on our own. And the first thing we needed was brokers. Guys with sales experience. So I recruited some of my hometown boys: Sea Otter, who sold meat and weed; Chester, who sold tires and weed; and Robbie, who sold anything he could get his hands on, mostly weed.

The Dog of Wall Street
25 December 2013 | by msfindlaySee all my reviews

I found this movie to be tedious, boring and not all that well made. This nearly 3 hour movie should be CUT to about two hours. Things drag on without much of a conclusion. The characters are poorly cast (what does Jonah Hill bring to his role?) with no chemistry or spark to justify their success or motivation.

Even the sex scenes and frequent nudity got boring {I can't believe I even said that!). The drug orgies are way too frequent and way too long.

Leonardo is a good actor, but not a very compelling character here. He's not that believable as a salesman or druggy. Martin needs to hire an editor who has the courage to CUT, CUT, CUT and tell a story succinctly as possible. Overall, not a very satisfying movie to enjoy on Christmas day.
