Jay & Silent Bob Reboot Will Feature a Stan Lee Tribute

Jay & Silent Bob Reboot Will Feature a Stan Lee Tribute
Get some tissues ready, as Kevin Smith will include a tribute to the late Stan Lee in his upcoming movie Jay & Silent Bob Reboot. This will serve as Smith's return to his own cinematic universe, the View Askewniverse, which started with his debut movie Clerks back in the 90s, long before the Marvel Cinematic Universe made interconnectivity all the rage. Smith hasn't dipped into this well in more than a decade, which makes it special for his fans. Now, we know it's going to be special for Marvel fans as well.

Tragically, Marvel Comics legend Stan Lee passed away last year. He and Kevin Smith had worked together several times over the years, with Lee appearing in Mallrats. That particular role was immortalized via Lee's cameo in Captain Marvel. Beyond their professional relationship, the two had developed something of a friendship over the years and Smith was a lifelong fan of comics.

Smith and Adams have worked together frequently in the past and the two dated back in the 1990s. Adams starred in Mallrats as Gwen and as Alyssa Jones in Chasing Amy and Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. The actress is back as Jones for Jay & Silent Bob Reboot.

Having Joey Lauren Adams back for Jay & Silent Bob Reboot was a big deal for Kevin Smith. In addition to the photo of the reunion, Smith also wrote a lengthy caption explaining that Adams is one of the reasons that the sequel is even happening. The actress also posted a picture from the set on her social media. Smith had this to say.

Kevin Smith Celebrates Post-Heart Attack Birthday with the Perfect Clerks Joke

Kevin Smith Celebrates Post-Heart Attack Birthday with the Perfect Clerks Joke
Kevin Smith suffered a massive, life-threatening heart attack in February. Fortunately, the filmmaker was one of the lucky ones and made it through, and nobody has had a better sense of humor about the whole thing than he has in the months since. Today, on his first birthday since surviving his heart attack, he proved that once again.

The now 48-year-old Kevin Smith returned to the sight where his career began, right outside the convenience store where he shot Clerks, his 1994 independent feature hit that kicked off his career. It also birthed his famed character Silent Bob, who he is channeling in an Instagram post commemorating his birthday, while also slipping in the perfect joke from his first movie. Here's what he had to say.

"Today, August 2nd, 2018, I am 48 years old. This is me leaning against the wall that changed my life. Speaking of life, I almost didn't make it out alive this year.

Kevin Smith didn't reveal any specific details about their casting at the present time. So we don't know who exactly any of The Flash gang will be playing in the upcoming entry in the View Askew universe. It also isn't totally clear how large their roles will be. Are these merely going to be glorified cameos?

Clerks - An Unlikely Multimedia Franchise

How a 1993 indie hit from Kevin Smith gave birth to an unlikely franchise...

This article comes from Den of Geek UK.

In 1993, Kevin Smith made a movie. Clerks was shot in black and white over the course of three weeks, at night, in the convenience store where Smith worked during the day, on a shoestring budget of $27,575. Smith funded the film himself by dipping into his savings, selling all his comics and maxing out several credit cards.

Even though it became an indie phenomenon when it was picked up by Miramax (who gave it a new soundtrack using a post-production budget that was ten times the cost of principal photography) at the 1994 Sundance Film Festival, it doesn't have 'franchise starter' written all over it.

Long considered a Gen X touchstone, Clerks is a funny and filthy slice of life movie, which equates a working day for Dante

The unmade films of Kevin Smith

Rob Leane Feb 13, 2017

Superman Lives, The Green Hornet and sadly now Clerks III: here’s a rundown of the Kevin Smith films we’ll probably never see...

Kevin Smith has always had to fight to get his films off the ground: he started his filmmaking career by maxing out multiple credit cards to self-finance Clerks, and more recently, legend has it, it was only Johnny Depp’s decision to come on board as a wacky supporting character that allowed Smith to secure financing for his walrus-centric horror flick Tusk.

Smith has, across his career, been offered several barmy jobs (he rejected a chance to pen Beetlejuice Goes Hawaiian back in the 90s) and he’s also signed up for a lot of projects that never got past the script phase.

The latter camp of could’ve-beens is what we’re talking about today, following that news that Clerks III
